Welcome to one of the most exciting ventures on the web!  Boy Choir Magazine is long overdue. BCM recognizes the young artists of the classical Boy Choir and Treble traditions,  the individual groups, Choir Masters, volunteers, parents, churches and individual organizations that enable the choristers to produce their work.
Did you know that the traditional Boy Choir is one of the few surviving classic art forms that has survived virtually unchanged over thousands of years?  The choir boys, their Choir Masters and the sponsoring institutions have all retained that relationship that has produced some of the most astonishingly beautiful music in the human experience.  By all rights, the traditional Boy Choir should have disappeared sometime during the last century, but it did not.  Indeed, they have thrived, attesting not only to their resiliency – but to their purity.  The power that is derived from purity cannot be easily lost.
We are determined NOT to repeat the already wonderful resources posted on the web, simply to post their links for your convenience.  There are more than a handful of awesome sites dedicated to various aspects of preserving and enhancing the Boy Choir tradition and we have no desire to duplicate their exhaustive and awesome work - but we will help you find your way to them!

What can you expect from BCM?

We have a five-fold purpose in our quest to describe and highlight the 21st century classical Boy Choir art form that has existed for millennia:

1.  To sensitively take an up-close look at the choristers through one-on-one interviews.
2.  To interview the chorister’s parents or guardians in order to observe the “other side” of the Choir Boy’s life.
3.  To interview the Choir Masters and view the genre from their eyes as the human glue that holds this art form together from generation to generation.
4.  To interview and examine in depth the many webmasters and their unsung, often heroic efforts and activities and to point our readers toward them.
5.  To make our readers aware of upcoming concerts and activities.

Just as  we have a five-fold purpose, there is also a list of things Boy Choir Magazine is not:

1.  Boy Choir Magazine is not Choir Boy Magazine.  While they are certainly one of our focuses, the chorister is but one of the many essential parts of the art.  We hope to bring our readers a balanced view of all of its splendid diversity and many equally essential parts.
2.  BCM is most assuredly not a 21st century boy band magazine.
3.  BCM is not primarily focused on any nationality – we recognize the Boy Choir as a gift from heaven given to all mankind.
4.  BCM is not oriented or slanted toward any religious viewpoint, doctrine or denomination.
5.  Boy Choir Magazine is not a for-profit enterprise.  Eventually, we will seek IRS 501(c)3 certification.  But until then, we have dropped “contribute-if-you-want-to” buttons to help us pay for things like web presence and the many contracted images you see on the site.  Already we have scheduled travel and other expenses associated with the effort and will continue to do so.  In the end, we have taken this on by faith and the inevitable joy.
6.  This is not a place where you will ever find a critique of any choir or any individual.  The world has enough critics already and most certainly does not need another.

We wish to open the doors and focus on the individual boy choristers, their Choir Masters, the parents, former choristers and the sponsors of this great tradition, let you hear directly from them and allow them to share with you what they have to say.  We want to point you to resources.  And if you just recently discovered the wonder of Boy Choirs, we desire to show you around this astonishingly beautiful heaven-on-earth and show off its majestic tapestry.  We very much want to make this an adventure - a magical journey in real time and real space - and we very much want to make it fun!
Please check back frequently.  We know we can’t publish an issue once a week.As we start off, our issues will be developed bi-monthly, but we very much wish to eventually launch monthly issues.  But to make sure we stay in touch much more frequently than once every other month, BCM also has a web log site that you can check as news and events come in between issues.  We are hoping to post articles here at least once per week or more frequently as required.
It is so awesome to begin this venture!  We most sincerely pray you will stay with us and enjoy this web based magazine as it begins.
